Happy Friday, friends! Boy, this week has flown by, hasn’t it? Anyway, I want to quickly share with you a quick and easy way to beef up cushions for outdoor furniture! Come check it out!
Several years ago my in-laws gave us their old outdoor furniture. It’s wrought iron and the furniture itself was still in great shape, but over time the cushions had really broken down. We started looking to replace the cushions, but it was going to cost a fortune to replace 5 back cushions and 5 seat cushions. Here’s how they looked…..
Because the fabric itself was in good shape, we decided on Plan B. Have the cushions re-stuffed! Our upholstery guy said he couldn’t get new foam due to “Supply Chain” issues. So he recommended just beefing up the cushions using 2 inch batting. He removed the existing foam cushions and wrapped them with extra thick batting and re-stuffed them. It proved to be a little tricky because the bottom cushions had zippers and the back cushions did not. The upholsterer had to rip open the back cushions, stuff them and re-sew them. But, it worked like a charm!
And a quick before and after. Much, much better! The upholsterer only charged us $30 per cushion. So for around $300 we got (almost) new cushions! The furniture looks practically brand new! It not only looks better but the seats are more comfortable too. Win-win!
So, before tossing out those old cushions, consider breathing new life into them with extra batting! Well, let’s weekend friends! Until next time, I hope the good Lord takes a liking to you! And Me! (Borrowed from Roy Rogers.)
