Happy Monday, friends! Do you ever get sick and tired of doing laundry? I certainly do. Especially lately. Come check out my new solution to tackle TONS of laundry. Speedy Suds Laundry!
We have a rental property locally and since we started renting the house, the laundry has been overwhelming! The house has one king size bed, two queens and two twin beds. That’s a LOT of sheets to wash, not to mention piles of towels, washcloths and bath mats. I’ve been bringing the dirty linen home with me and spending an entire day washing, drying and folding everything and putting it back in my car to haul it back over to the other house. This was very time consuming and a lot of wear and tear on my washer and dryer. (And me.) So my brilliant husband offered a solution! A laundromat!
On the way to our lake house there is a laundromat that I’ve passed a million times. It’s called Speedy Suds Laundry. So, the other day I stopped in and spoke with an employee. She explained how they operate. You bring in your laundry and they charge $1.25 per pound with a $13 minimum. (They charge $20 for one comforter, but I figure I can wash those myself as needed.) You can bring your clothes or linens in your own bag or they sell these oversize bags for just $12 each.
I purchased two of the bags. One for sheets and one for towels. I did a trial run with them yesterday and took a couple of sets of queen size sheets and twin sheets. They were ready in less than two hours! And trust me when I say they fold fitted sheets MUCH better than I do! And the cost was $15. I think that is AWESOME. (I gave them a 15% tip.)
So now each week I can drop off the dirty laundry and they will text me when it’s finished. I will be able to simply stop by and pick it up the clean linens on the way to the house. How easy is that? They are open 7 days a week too. (Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and Saturday and Sundays from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.) And on a side note, they also have a car and dog wash for more of your cleaning needs. Interesting business model, huh?
This is going to be a game changer for me. No more piles of laundry in my Butler’s Pantry and no more hours of washing and folding for this lady. And the beauty is we can pass the charge to the renters by way of the cleaning fee! (I’m actually tempted to take them my sheets since they fold them so much better than I.)
This reminds me of when our younger son was in college at Penn State. For Christmas one year we got him a one year subscription for a laundry service. The service gave you a big bag for your laundry and they would pick it up, wash, dry and fold and deliver it back to your dorm or apartment. Its was aptly called, The Lazy Lion. LOL. But I don’t feel like this is being lazy, I think of it as being smart!
Well, that’s my tip for the day! If you have a rental property I think this is a must! (#5) Or if you are overwhelmed by piles and piles of laundry or when your kids come home from college, consider taking your/their things to a laundromat and have them do it. I wish I had thought of this when my boys came home from college for the summer or holidays!
Speaking of which, I need to head over to the rental property now and get it ready for the new folks coming in today! Have a wonderful day and let’s chat again soon! xoxo Dell
