TGIF, my friends! Are you ready for the weekend? I sure am! But first I want to share with you a quick little painting project I did this week. Come see how easy painting furniture with spray paint can be!
Now, last week I painted one of the guest rooms in our basement. I really just wanted to spruce up the room a bit in time for the holidays and of course one thing led to another. As I was moving the furniture out of the room in order to paint, I realized what terrible shape the two side tables were in. I mean, they are OLD. They came from my husband’s grandmother’s farm house in the country. See?
So Lacey and I hauled them outside for a quick little pick-me-up.
At first I put them on a tarp. (because my husband hates it when I paint the grass.) Then I realized the feet on the tables were sinking into the ground and therefore I couldn’t paint them very well. I found a piece of plywood in the garage and used that to raise the tables up so they were level. And allowing me to paint the feet.
I had a can of Rustoleum black spray paint in a satin finish on hand. Thankfully that was all I needed. I gave the tables each a few light coats of paint and let them dry for a few hours. (Spray painting is SOOOO much faster than brushing by hand.) And while the tables still look imperfect and old, they look much, much better!
And now the freshly painted tables are in their new room and ready for company!
I installed some blinds in this room this week too, and I hate them. They are the accordion blinds that pull down and then fold back up. I really wanted 2″ wood blinds but didn’t have time to order them and get them back in time for Thanksgiving. And privacy is a must. Lowe’s only carries faux wood blinds in stock. Nothing against faux wood, but I prefer the real McCoy. American Blinds was having a 40% of sale that ended tonight so I ordered some for these windows. I think they will look much nicer. (These blinds were a bugger to get up, so taking them down should be super fun. I wonder if I can return them?)
Well, I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Do you have anything fun planned? I have a feeling I will be hanging more blinds over at the lake house with my hubby. Stop back by next week and hopefully I’ll start hauling out the Christmas decor! xoxo Dell
