Happy Tuesday, sweet friends! I hope y’all had a great weekend! Today I want to share with you just one of the projects I recently completed. It’s painted patio furniture! Come check it out!
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you know that I”ve been on a major paint-a-thon lately. I’ve been painting nearly everything within arms reach! We’ve been working on fixing up our basement “lounge” area, and the loggia just outside the lounge got a makeover recently too. So, naturally this little sitting area out back was next. Here’s where we started. The previous owners generously left us these chairs. Two were green with wrought iron arms, three bouncy chairs and a small table. (The table/firepit was ours.)
I planned on painting these chairs for a while and considered painting them all black, but the more I thought about it, the more I decided this space needed a little color and brightness. Change of plan!! I chose to go with white! So, I wiped down all of the chairs and tables and gave them several coats of French Creme by Rust-Oleum. (See how I taped the wrought iron legs and arms of the wooden chairs?)
I spread large tarps out back in order to paint. As you know, spray paint goes EVERYWHERE.
For 5 chairs and one table it took about 17 cans of spray paint. TIP: Buy plenty of spray paint before you start your project. You can always return the unused cans if you don’t need them. I ended up going to 2 different Lowe’s stores to get more paint, which took up considerable time.
Our fire pit/table was super faded and needed a little TLC as well. I cleaned the table and the lid to the fire pit with water and a brush.
I painted the fire pit in a black satin finish. (It only took one can.)
Here’s another tip-Be sure to paint the underside of the furniture first. Allow it to dry completely, then flip it over and paint the top and sides. Doesn’t it look so much better with a fresh coat of paint? I added some pretty geraniums and a white lantern for a pop of color against the black.
And here is how it looks now! I’m so glad I went with white instead of black! (I looked at it from the golf course yesterday and was quite pleased.)
Here’s a quick before and after. Although the furniture is mis-matched, it has a cohesiveness about it now. I put all of the chairs that matched together and put some small tables in between. I have one more small outdoor table I want to add, and perhaps some new cushions. But, this view makes me so happy now!! There’s something about freshly painted furniture that makes it feel brand new to me. Another project in the books!
I’ll be sure to share our newly painted kitchen and dining room with you soon. I have a few more areas to tweak, but then I’ll be done! Hallelujah! Then maybe I can pack my tarps away for a while. LOL.
Well, thank you for stopping by today and supporting my little blog. Be sure to check out my FB and IG account for more pictures and projects! Have a great day! Much love, Dell
