Step number one. Add cute dog. Check! Add lots of flags. Check! Lots of red, white and blue. Check! Lots of good food. Check! Declare I love America! Double check!!
If we happen to be at the lake for the holidays, I like to put out our American flag first. Actually it always flies when we are there, even when it’s not a holiday. Putting out the flag feels like announcing “We’re back!”
I like to put up our red, white and blue pennants and buntings along the railings and along the deck. (from Hearth and Plow) It’s so festive and colorful from the lake side!
If we happen to be home in PA we put the pennants on the fence to the backyard. I like how they look here too! They look right at home with the large black metal stars on the gates. (forgive the brown grass-so dry!)
I have American flags in various sizes that I like to stick in our planters and urns. They instantly add a patriotic flare and festive vibe!
On the Veranda we have two rocking chairs and a round glass table. We like to keep the outdoor propane heater on the table for cool nights which we still have occasionally. We are enjoying our new Hardie Plank siding we recently had installed. I added some festive pillows and a throws. Some fresh greenery and flags helps add to the patriotic look.
I bought these string lights last year at BJ’s and never put them up. They are designed for a 9′ umbrella so I decided to put them on this weekend. This is how they looked fresh out the box. 🙁
After MUCH untangling effort, my husband helped me put them up. I can’t wait until night time and I’ll turn them on. They have really small LED lights and are battery operated so I hope they won’t attract bugs, just give a nice little glow to the table area.
Here is a picture of my Run Amok Daisies. (Technically they are called Becky Shasta Daisies, but we have renamed them.) So pretty, but SO invasive! I’m going to cut a ton of them later and enjoy them before my husband gets hold of them again!
I love decorating for the holidays. One of the nice things about the July 4th holiday is you don’t have to buy presents! Here’s another look at the house up North decorated for the 4th!
I’m sure my husband has lots of yummy ideas for his grill and new electric smoker! It looks like the weather will be beautiful and perfect for sunning and grilling. This looks like a tasty and festive dish! And semi=healthy too!
Here’s wishing everyone a safe and Happy July 4th! God bless our troops, Veterans and to those who gave all for our freedom. God Bless America! xoxoxo
