Happy Monday, friends! Can you believe ⅔ of August is gone already! Where is the time going? Well, some folks are using their time wisely, like our son and daughter-in-law! They have been busy! Come check out their painted kitchen cabinets!
Our son and daughter-in-law have been in their new house for less than 3 months and they have already made SO many improvements and changes! First they tackled their master bathroom. Our son, Chase, painted the oak cabinets a sleek glossy black, and added new hardware. To see more of this gorgeous transformation click here: How to Update a Bathroom with Paint!
Next up was the kitchen. Eventually the kids would like to replace all of the cabinets and install a large hood fan over the stove. But, with so many other pressing issues, like a fenced in yard and landscaping, they decided to just do a few cosmetic changes to the kitchen to better suit their style in the mean time. This is how the kitchen looked when they first viewed the house. The oak cabinets are well made and in good shape. Plus, they are by Merillat, which is a very nice brand. So, again, Chase whipped out his paint brush and roller!
And nearly a week later! Doesn’t the kitchen look twice as large and bright?
The sink area got a similar makeover. This is what it looked like when they moved in…
And here is the after photo! They used the existing hardware, but now it really pops against the white cabinets. What an improvement! The lighter cabinets also look great with the granite!
The area beside the refrigerator looked like this with the original oak cabinets.
And here are the freshly painted cabinets beside the fridge. Their stainless steel appliances fit right in with the sleek new look!
One last look at the before and after of this angle of the kitchen. Painting the cabinets took our son nearly a week. He had to remove the doors and hardware, then paint the base of the cabinets and both sides of each door. But, oh, what a difference! Another thing our son and DIL did to brighten up the kitchen was remove the old blinds from the kitchen door. Not only did it add more light, but it gave them the space to hang a beautiful and fragrant wreath made of lavender and eucalyptus.
The “kids” have done a fantastic job decorating and fixing up their new home! (They are really thirty-somethings but to us they will always be our kids!) We are so proud of them and are also thrilled they moved closer to us so we can see them and our adorable grandson much more often. If anything positive has come out of the pandemic, this is it!
Be sure to tune in soon and I”ll share another paint project by our son! He’s on a roll! Meanwhile, I hope you have a wonderful day! Thank you as always for stopping by and supporting my little blog! xoxo Dell
