Happy Monday, my friends! My son and daughter-in-law have done some amazing things to their new house in the past few months, and I can’t wait to share! (with their permission, of course!) Come see how to update a bathroom with paint! You won’t believe the difference!
So, this is how the master bathroom looked when our son and DIL purchased their new home. It had great bones, and obviously everything one might want and need in a master bath. Double vanities, a nice soaker tub, a separate shower and toilet. Check, check and check! But, it was not their style, and initially they thought it would be a totally gut job. But once they moved in, they realized the layout was actually perfect! The flooring was nice, as were the nicely built Merillat cabinets. All high-end finishes, that just needed a little tweaking.
Suddenly it became clear. They decided to work with what they have and paint the cabinets! This is our son’s sink area.
Painting the existing cabinetry was a great, cost saving solution. They chose a bold, glossy black paint to cover the dated oak cabinets. Instantly an improvement! (Painting and photo credit: Chase Barton.)
After the fabulous paint job, they added some new hardware, a bit of trim and wallah! A whole new vanity!
You can see the amazing before and after pictures below. Gone are the dated oak cabinets. Suddenly the master bathroom is modern, fresh, and befitting of a young, professional couple!
This is my daughter-in-law’s vanity. I love how the black paint contrasts beautifully with the white countertops and sink! And nothing is more classic than black and white in my book!
It goes to show with a little elbow grease, you can turn a house into YOUR home! It really makes us proud that our children are using their talents and creativity to carve out their own little slice of heaven. And we all know that every penny you spend on home improvements, will mean money in your pocket when it comes time for resale! Great job!
What do you think? Are you brave enough to paint cabinets? It really is a great way to dramatically change the look and feel of a room with very little money. All it takes is time and energy! Soon I’ll show you another big project they just completed in another room, so stay tuned! I hope you have a wonderful day and stay safe! xoxo Dell
