Happy Thursday, friends! Want to see a quick DIY makeover? Come check out my Facebook Marketplace rocking chair!
My husband and I have been looking for a nice used, but sturdy rocking chair for our lake house porch. Previously we had 4 on the front porch, but lost one due to rotting. Ideally we would have loved to find a white one to match the other three, but my husband found a Cracker Barrel rocking chair on FB Marketplace for $75. Problem is, it’s blue. With stickers.
But, the seller agreed to take $60 cash, and it was in great shape so we bought it! And nothing against Carolina blue, I want to paint it white to match the others.
So, despite having just gotten a manicure, I proceeded to pick off the stickers with my nails. One day, I’ll learn. Once the stickers were removed, there was a sticky residue that remained. So, I used some Goof-Off and Greased Lightening to remove the remaining glue.
Much better already! I cleaned the rest of the chair and sanded it to prep for paint.
Since the chair will live at the lake, I took it over there in order to paint. It took 4 full cans of white semi-gloss paint to cover the dark blue paint.
I love how the rocking chair turned out! We have several other white Cracker Barrel rocking chairs and now this one matches! And no trace of the former stickers.
What do you think? This type of rocking chair is usually around $200 new, and we got it for $60. It took 4 cans of paint which was around $16. Not bad! I bought an extra few cans of paint to give a quick face lift to the other rocking chairs. Now it looks like we have 4 brand new rocking chairs! I’ll post a picture of them later.
Be sure to stop by tomorrow and I”ll share another paint job. Not by me, but my son! Hint: It’s MUCH bigger than painting a chair. Thank for stopping by and I hope you have a great evening! xoxo Dell
