Greetings! Yesterday the rental company came to take away the tent, tables and chairs. But I want to leave the other decorations up as long as possible so we can still enjoy them. Especially the outdoor engagement party decorations!
I admit I was sad when the rental company took away the tent. I wanted to keep it! On Sunday after the party was over it rained like cats and dogs. But when we are at the lake we want to be outside as much as possible. So, we dragged the Adirondack chairs under the tent and sat outside and enjoyed the sound of the rain on the tent. Plus, I loved the festive look of the tent from the lake!
The Adirondack chairs usually sit on the patio along with the fire pit. But to make room for the tables and chairs from the rental company we moved the Adirondack chairs and the fire pit onto the grass near the water. The fire pit is getting old and I noticed the metal pan had burned through. So, to simulate a fire I filled the fire pit pan with real logs and wrapped them in battery operated fairy lights. The lights can be controlled with a wireless remote control and you can choose 8 different light patterns. I used four strands. Each strand runs on 3 AA batteries but can all be controlled from one remote even though each came with its own.
I loved the ambiance of a fire yet we didn’t have to worry about safety or restocking the fire. With so many people, a few children and Lacey running around this was one less thing to worry about.
On the Southern Veranda we have lights that stay up year round. For the engagement party we added paper lanterns on every other bulb. The lanterns have a hook at the top and it slips over the cord. I’m leaving them up for now because I love how they look!
We mixed gold and white paper lanterns since these two colors will be part of the wedding colors.
And the lights and lanterns looked pretty near the weight and scales filled with flowers and shells. (See the brass dinner bell? Also one of my favorite things.)
And my vintage glass mailbox is filled with water and fresh daisies right by the back door.
And a few other pictures…..
This engagement party was so much fun to plan and it took a long time to execute so I’m reliving it every time I look at the pictures! The happy couple said the party was good practice for the wedding. Now we have the bridal shower, and all of the other fun wedding events to look forward to. Meanwhile I’ll start searching for ideas and inspiration! Thank you for stopping by! Let me know what you think and please share my page with your friends and family! xoxoxo Dell
