Happy Thursday, friends! I took a few days off to enjoy the Memorial Day holiday and work on a few projects! I hope you had a lovely holiday! While we are chatting, why don’t you pop over and see the latest addition to our bedroom! A master bedroom chandelier!
I know it won’t come as a shock to you that I found a perfect crystal chandelier for our master bedroom. Actually, it’s one I have been eyeing for years! It’s by Restoration Hardware, and it is a show-stopper. I found it on Facebook Marketplace for a great price and I couldn’t let it slip through my hands! This is the fixture I had up previously. Nothing wrong with it really. It’s large scale and pretty, but it doesn’t have crystals, and it was inadvertently hung too high. So, either way it had to come down.
My sweet electrician hung the Restoration Hardware chandelier for me last week and put it on a dimmer. I couldn’t love it more! We have a very tall ceiling in this room so I wanted the chandelier to hang low enough so we could enjoy it. The rule of thumb is to hang a chandelier 7 feet from the floor to the bottom of the chandelier. This one hangs about 7 feet two inches to the bottom of the fixture, but the crystals hang down an additional 7 inches. I think it’s perfect! But, naturally, one thing leads to another. At least in my world. Once the chandelier was in place, the artwork looked too small and out of place.
I wanted a mirror to hang over the bed to reflect the chandelier. As you know, two chandeliers are better than one! (Even if it is a reflection!) So, I shopped my house for a solution, since I already splurged on the chandelier, I knew I couldn’t buy a new mirror too. I didn’t need to look far, because this large round mirror was hanging in the master bedroom over the dresser. And while I like it there, I thought it was the right size and scale for over the bed. Plus, there is something about a round mirror I just love!
I’m not as young and agile as I used to be, but I still was able to move the mirror from one side of the room to the opposite wall, and hang it securely over the bed. I really like it! (Which is a good thing because I would hate to take it back down. It’s super heavy and awkward!) Here’s what it looks like! I love how the crystals sparkle on the walls and ceiling!
I also switched out the lamps on the nightstands with some I had in our previous bedroom. They are taller, more substantial, and every room needs a little black, right? The master bedroom feels new and fresh! I also added some new 800 thread count bed sheets for the win! (On super-duper sale at Kohl’s Memorial Day sale plus Kohl’s cash.) I’ll take the old set of sheets to the lake house for the bedroom there.
Now I just need to find a mirror to go over the dresser and add a few accessories. Slowly but surely! What do you think? Do you like the mirror better than the artwork?
This room is nearly finished! For the summer months, I love the light and bright vibe of the all white bedding. That’s the beauty of neutral decor, you can add seasonal pops of color when ever you wish! What do you think? Do you love neutrals or color? Or both? Personally I love both! But for our bedroom, I love this calm feeling.
Thank you for stopping by! Be sure to check out my Instagram via dellsdailydish! I’ve been spending a lot more time over there than Facebook, so you can see lots more pictures of our home and projects! Hope you have a lovely evening! xoxo Dell
