TGIF, sweet friends! Do you have a fun-filled holiday weekend planned? We might, but first the weather needs to cooperate! Currently it’s pouring down rain. Go figure. But before we embark on a 3-day weekend, hopefully at the lake, I want to share with you a new treasure! It’s a beaded crystal chandelier! Come see!
Well, it’s official. I need a bigger car! I found a beautiful, large beaded crystal chandelier on Facebook Marketplace last week. It’s gorgeous, but I don’t really need another chandelier. (Bet you never thought you’d hear me say that, did you?) However, it was so beautiful and had such a great shape, I thought my son and daughter-in-law could use it in their new home! So, I sent them a picture of the chandelier from the listing on FB Marketplace and they loved it!
Once the kids said they wanted the fixture, I messaged the seller and arranged a pick-up time. I probably should have asked for the dimensions beforehand. Oops. This turned out to be THE largest chandelier I’ve ever bought and the only one that has never fit into my little SUV. But, I was determined to make it work. So, with a little rope and some blankets, I was able to pull the hatch down and secure it, even though the chandelier was practically hanging out of my car. (You should have seen the intricate rope system I used, but it worked.) The most obnoxious part of the whole trip home was the alarm on my car beeped and beeped the ENTIRE ride home. Lift gate ajar….
Now safely in the garage, the chandelier is waiting patiently for a few more weeks until the kids move and this beauty finds its new home!
Such dreamy details, don’t you agree? I love the silvery finish, mixed with the pretty glass beaded crystals. Perfect for a young modern couple and their first home.
This is one of the house warming gifts for our children as they begin this new and exciting chapter in their lives. And now that we know how large this fixture actually is, I can’t wait to see where they decide to put it in their new house! Will it be in their master bedroom? Or in the beautiful foyer? Somewhere else? Time will tell. Oh, and a fun little tidbit of information the seller shared with me is the chandelier came from the home of Billy Boat, a famous race car driver! I don’t follow racing myself so I looked him up. Apparently he was an “Open-wheel driver” in the Indy Racing League and now retired, but his son, Chad, is currently a Nascar driver. (According to Wikipedia) I love knowing the history of pieces I find, don’t you?
I can hardly wait until our children move closer to us! They’ve purchased a gorgeous home in the historic part of uptown and will move in a few short weeks. The kids said they would allow me to share some of their before and after photos and of course I foresee quite a bit of painting and fun DIY projects in our near future. Or, maybe I’ll just hold my adorable grandson while they paint! Hopefully a little bit of both!
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a safe and fun-filled weekend! Take care my friends! xoxo Dell
