Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a lovely weekend! With summer almost in full swing, I thought I’d share a secret a good friend of mine recently shared with me. How to make easy, homemade coleslaw. And it is delicious! Come get the recipe for Southern Coleslaw!
Last week we had dinner at a friend’s house and one of our friends brought her homemade coleslaw. Honesty, I usually just buy it premade from the store, but once we tasted her’s, we had to have the recipe! So, she let us in on her secret! She buys Chef Buddy’s Southern Slaw. It’s a 16 ounce mix of green cabbage, bell peppers and onions, all diced and ready to go! All you add is a few ingredients and you have the most delicious coleslaw! (The recipe is on the back of the package.) We like it as a side dish or on hamburgers and hot dogs. So, this is what the bag looks like…
SIMPLE SOUTHERN SLAW
Ingredients:
- 16 oz. ChefBuddy’s Southern Slaw
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, mustard, apple cider vinegar, and sugar. Whisk together well, then add the diced cabbage mix. Salt and pepper to taste. Cover and chill before serving. Wallah! Perfect coleslaw every time! Thanks for the recipe Helen!! Big air kisses to you! I made it yesterday for dinner and it was perfect! My husband grilled some cheeseburgers and we added chili and coleslaw without the buns. Yummy and low carbs!
So far the only place we (Helen and I) know to buy it is at Harris-Teeter in the refrigerated section near the bags of lettuce and pre-made salads. But Publix and Food Lion carry a similar shredded cabbage that would work well, too. You can always vary the recipe to better suit your tastes, such as adding a bit more mayonnaise and less sugar. My husband likes it with more vinegar. I love it when people share their recipes with me. Especially ones that are easy and delicious, like this one! So, next time you are having a cook-out, be sure to make some coleslaw! (and thank Helen for the recipe!)
Well, thanks for stopping by! Later this week I’ll share a few changes we’ve made around the house. Have a great day! xoxo Dell
