Happy Thursday, friends! If you are a regular follower of my blog (A huge thank you if you do~Sending air kisses!) you know my first grandchild was born last week! My husband and I went to the hospital the day he was born and took him a gift to mark his first year in a special way. Come see his personalized milestone blanket!
In case you missed it, our first grandchild was born last week, on my husband’s 60th birthday! See here for all of the fun details! :FIRST GRANDCHILD!!!
We’ve known for several months that our son and daughter-in-law were expecting a baby boy and they planned to name him after his Daddy and Grandfather. This gave us ample time to host a fun little shower and to also have a few things personalized for the baby. But we also wanted to give our son and DIL a keepsake to mark their baby’s first year.
Milestone blankets have become very popular. I’m sure you’ve seen them on Instagram and Pinterest. It’s a fun way to mark baby’s growth month by month over the course of their first year. You lay the baby on the blanket and frame the month with some sort of a marker.
So, for our grandson, I ordered this sweet little blanket from a shop on Etsy. Our grandson’s first name is Bradford, like his father and grandfather and they are cleverly calling him, “Ford”. Also, his grandfather owns a 1966 blue Ford pickup truck so I thought this would be a perfect blanket for our little prince. (My husband told me this is not a ’66 Ford, but it looks pretty close to me.)
The blanket is large, measuring a generous 40 x 60 inches, and is made of fleece and minky. Ford is only a week and a half old, but one month will come quickly! It’ll be fun to chart his growth and development month-by-month on his very own blanket.
Most milestone blankets don’t come with a marker so I decided to “make” my own. And you know how much I love vintage frames! I had this tiny little gem in my stash. I took the picture out of the frame and gave it a quick coat of gold spray paint. It’s the perfect size to fit over the numbers on the blanket.
If you are looking for a nice baby gift, you should check out milestone blankets! Milestone blankets are available most places where they sell baby supplies. I found this one (below) on Amazon for about $25, but I’ve also seen them at Target and Buy Buy Baby. You can have them personalized at any shop that specializes in monograms.
Well, as I said earlier this week, I have all things baby on my brain! One more baby post tomorrow and then off to do a bit of DIY around the house. Who else is getting spring fever? MEEEEE! Have a great day my friends and let’s chat again soon!
xoxo Dell
