Happy Wednesday! For my local friends, you probably already know about this thrift store, but if not, you need to check it out! Actually they have two locations now and they are constantly getting in tons of new inventory. Want to see my latest thrift store finds?
So, yesterday when I should have been doing something more constructive, I popped in my favorite thrift store. You never know what you’ll find, right? Technically I was Christmas shopping but when you come across a great buy, you must act quickly! My favorite thrift store is called Good Stuff, which is aptly named. They are a community organization that helps kids in need. They have one store on Main Street in Doylestown and one on 202 in Buckingham. Both are awesome!
I like to do a quick reconnoissance lap around the store in order to spot anything cool or something I can’t live without. The good stuff always goes quickly. (Hence the name) So, yesterday as soon as I walked into the thrift store, I spotted this pretty platter. It was only $18 and I had a $15 dollar off coupon, so it was practically free! I put it on an easel and now it sits in my kitchen. It’s made by Mud Pie, which is a fun brand of pottery and usually pretty expensive. I tried to look it up to find out how much it was new, but I couldn’t find it. At any rate, I love it!
And because gold is my favorite color, I love the gold lettering and trim. Very festive and pretty! I’m not sure if I will actually use it, but I like it as a display piece for Christmas.
Next I spotted this thing. I’m not sure what it is other than a piece of decorative carved goodness and it was only $22. And they were having a sale so I got it for 20% less. Win/win! The piece was a little wobbly, but it was easily fixed by tightening the screws on the bottom. I think it might sit on the mantle after the holidays.
I also found a cute vintage looking cookie jar for $3. I can’t wait to clean it out and fill it with our favorite chocolate chip oatmeal cookies for Christmas!
These little jars jumped out at me. They look similar to the ones used to make candles so I may make Christmas scented candles out of them or fill them with homemade candy and give them away as gifts. The cute jars are decorated with little festive Santas and yellow stars. And for $1 each, they were a steal.
A few weeks ago I found this collage of frames and bought it for my son and his fiancé. (now my official daughter-in-law!) They wanted an attractive way to display the invitations for their parties and wedding and this fits the bill!
The opening of each frame is 5″x7″ which conveniently is the size of all of the invitations. There was one spot left so I popped in one of their engagement photos. (taken by the talented Libby Hansen Smith) Now they can hang it on their wall and have a sweet reminder of the fun happenings of the last year beginning with their engagement, the engagement party, the bridal shower, the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner and the wedding. The final event was a lovely brunch thrown by the bride’s sweet Aunt and Uncle the day after the wedding.
This is the gorgeous wedding invitation. They chose a local artisan from Hoboken, NJ to create these. I love how they added at the bottom, “black-tie optional, dancing required.”
The moral of this story is you can find great deals and unique gifts and give back to your community at the same time! And the folks that volunteer at the stores are the nicest people. So, stop in and see what you can find or you can donate at both of their convenient locations. They accept clothing, furniture, home accessories and more. For a complete list you can visit them at: www.goodstuffthrift.org.
Thank you for stopping by today! What’s your favorite thrift store find? Let me know! I hope you have a lovely day! xoxo Dell
