Happy Thursday, sweet friends! It’s dreary and cloudy here today with 100% chance of rain. So, after breakfast, my husband, Lacey and I “took our exercise” (as my father-in-law puts it) and walked three miles before the rain starts. So, to fuel our walk, we ate our favorite breakfast! It includes Everything Bagel Seasoning! Come check it out!
Our son and daughter-in-law told us about this seasoning a couple of months ago and raved about how much they like it. So, the next time we were at Costco, we found some! This is the brand we bought, and it’s by Olde Thompson and called Everything Bagel Seasoning. For an 11.5 ounce container, it’s about $6.00. It contains garlic, onion, sesame seeds, poppy seeds and “other spices”. If you like the everything bagel, then you’ll love this!
Thus far we’ve tried it on several things but our favorite way to use the spice is for breakfast over scrambled eggs. First, we split an English Muffin in half and toast it. Meanwhile, we scramble four eggs. Once the muffins are toasted, we top each one with a slice of American Cheese (or any cheese) then add the scrambled eggs. We add just a pinch of salt then liberally sprinkle on the Everything Bagel Seasoning. This makes enough for two, and my husband and I eat it almost every morning. It’s delicious and filling! We figure each serving is about 330 calories, but we use Jumbo size eggs, so it would be less if you use smaller eggs.
We’ve also used the seasoning on plain bagels with cream cheese and on avocado toast with eggs. The spice adds just enough crunch and flavor to perk up plain eggs. And since most of our dishes contain garlic and onion, this spice is perfect for us! Sometimes we use the spice for a quick lunch. We toast a piece of bread, add a few slices of deli turkey and top it with homemade egg salad and everything bagel seasoning. I’m telling you, this spice goes great with any kind of eggs!
Another way we like to make our eggs in the morning is to make a mini quiche-style omelet. We take 2 mini-cast iron skillets and saute some onions, garlic, and peppers in olive oil on top of the stove. (Of course you can add any other ingredients such as bacon bits, sausage, etc.) Then we add two scrambled eggs to each skillet and stir them around until they are starting to stick together. We add some shredded cheese and pop them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 5-10 minutes or until the eggs are done and the cheese is melted. Sprinkle with Everything Bagel Seasoning and you’ve got a quick and tasty meal! And the nice thing about using a cast iron skillet for this dish is the omelet stays piping hot until the last bite. Be careful not to burn yourself! It’s HOT.
The seasoning is also called “Everything But The Bagel” and by other names, but is found in the spice section of your grocery store or online. And one container lasts a LONG time! We use it every morning and have hardly put a dent in it. Not bad for about six bucks!
These are just a few ways to use Everything Bagel Seasoning. Have you tried it yet? How do you use it in your cooking? Please share if you have any ideas or suggestions! Well, I hope you have a great day and stay safe and dry out there! Let’s chat soon! Much love, Dell
