Happy Thursday, Everyone! Along with decorating the house for Christmas, I added a few festive touches to our newly finished Butler’s Pantry. Come see Christmas in the Butler’s pantry! (And we have grout!)
To recap: Our Butler’s Pantry has been a work in progress since the day we moved in. It’s such a great space, but it was unusable for so long. We plotted and planned, and interviewed scores of contractors, until we finally found one that “got” our vision and was a true craftsman. Fast forward to today, the cabinets are raised to the ceiling, revamped a bit and painted. The week before Thanksgiving my husband installed the tile backsplash but ran out of time. He didn’t have a chance to grout the tile until this past week. But now, the grout is in and the outlet covers are in place! I smile every time I walk into this room. The double crystal chandeliers are on a motion detector switch, so as soon as you walk into the room, they come on automatically. It feels like magic. And two chandeliers are twice as nice! Even our electrician, who installed them for us, commented how they really make the room look elegant and finished. I tend to agree!
I love how these chandeliers add that element of sparkle to the space. Yes, crystals chandeliers get me every time.
Here is a close up of the tile. We chose this tile because it matched the existing tile in the rest of the room. We used a larger grout line by accident but it turned out to be a happy mistake. We like it just fine! I added a few Christmas touches to the Butler’s Pantry such as this baker Nutcracker, and large platter.
This little ceramic snow man has been around forever. The front of his cauldron says, “donations” but we put candy canes in his bin instead of money. Naturally. I love adding little pops of color and Christmas cheer to every corner in our house. And if it holds candy? So much the better!
Even Lacey’s food & treat area got a fun little addition by way of a vintage elf. (No Elf on the Shelf elves here!)
My Nutcracker collection looks handsome on the top of the cabinets over the laundry area. I was at a loss as to where to put them in the new house, and since we use this room ALL of the time now, I thought it the perfect spot! They stand shoulder to shoulder, so I don’t think there is room for even one more!
Most of the Nutcrackers came from The Bombay Company. But my favorite is the white one from Radio City Music Hall. My husband bought it for me one year when we took our boys to the Christmas Spectacular in NYC. What a perfect memento from the Big Apple and the time we spent there with our children while they were growing up. I think we saw the Christmas show 4 or 5 times! (If you have a chance to go, the Rockettes are fabulous and the live nativity scene at the end is beautiful.) Fond memories.
Christmas or not, we are thrilled to have our Butler’s Pantry nearly complete. The only thing left to do is attach a few handles to the new cabinets and order pull out drawers for the tall (former) broom closet. It will house about 5 or 6 pull out drawers so I can easily see and reach every day items such as cans and condiments. Also to come is the ice machine that will go in the lower opening on the right.
Six months in the making, the former summer kitchen has been transformed into a functional and elegant Butler’s Panty! And we adore it! Even though there is no actual butler. Doesn’t it look like a completely different room?
This little area over the sink got a new addition as well. There was a screw in the wall above the sink, so I hung my silver lion planter here. Real ivy adds a pop of color to this area. I just need to remember to water it occasionally!
I hope you enjoyed seeing the nearly completed Butler’s Pantry with a bit of Christmas sprinkled throughout. I hope you have a wonderful day! Thank you for stopping by and supporting my blog. I love you for it! xoxo Dell
