Happy Wednesday friends! I’ve been meaning to share this for a while, so at long last, here it is! Would you like to see a pretty office? Then come check out my daughter-in-law’s beautiful home office!
When our son and daughter-in-law bought their first home, it included a lovely office space right off of the foyer. Our DIL got the go-ahead to work from home so she needed a quiet and functional space ASAP. This is how the room looked when they first saw the house. It already had great bones, with two sets of french doors and beautiful crown moulding. All it needed was a little TLC and personalization!
First of all our son painted the room with a coat of fresh white paint. Then they added a classic French-style desk that they found at an antique store. My son painted the desk and added architectural details. To see more of this transformation be sure to click here: How To Refinish a Desk!
Next they wanted to add brighter lighting! I had this beauty in my treasure room from Facebook Marketplace and thought it might be just what my daughter-in-law had in mind. So, I sent her a picture of it and she loved it! I gifted it to her as a birthday/housewarming present. (And nearly nothing makes me happier than to give someone I love a vintage chandelier!)
The electrician installed the chandelier along with a vintage ceiling medallion. And once the crystals were added, it was nothing less than stunning.
Naturally, they put the chandelier on a dimmer switch so the amount of light can be adjusted for task lighting or ambient lighting when they entertain.
Office, you’ve come a LONG way, baby! Take a look at this before and after! The previous light fixture had just one light bulb and did not give off much light at all. Plus, it just didn’t have that elegance our DIL craved for her office. The lighter paint, the new desk and the crystal chandelier all make for a pretty and modern backdrop for her daily Zoom calls with her New York counterparts! They are still working on the finishing touches such as curtains, and accessories, but they are off to a great start, don’t you think?
With so many folks working from home these days, it’s nice to have a functional and pretty space to call your own. If you are fortunate enough to have an office space, then make it your own with a few DIY projects and thrifty finds. And if you don’t have a designated office space, then just carve one out in a nook, a corner of a room, or even a closet!
Have a great evening my sweet friends! Thank you for stopping by and supporting my little blog! xoxo Dell
