Happy Wednesday, my friends! I recently found this fun print at a thrift store and you won’t believe what I paid for it! Come see details! #thriftstoreframes
A few months ago I gave the guest bedroom in our basement a makeover. I repainted the room and recovered the padded headboard. Also, I switched out the ceiling fan for a pretty chandelier. I wanted a large, fun piece of art for the wall opposite the bed. So, I’ve been keeping an eye out. One day I stopped by the local thrift store and spotted this picture. The black frame and colors in the print go nicely with the semi-neutral color scheme in the room. And it was only $50. So, of course I bought it!
The frame measures 36 inches wide by 45 inches tall and is made of real wood. So, it’s a very large, solid piece, and it was $50! The frame alone is worth much more than that. So, I could have switched out the print and kept the frame, but this lady walking her dogs kind of spoke to me. This room serves as our main guest room since it has a king-size bed and an adjoining bathroom and kitchenette. It’s also where my son and daughter-in-law stay when they visit so I wanted something fun they would both like. The large scale fills the wall nicely.
When my son saw the print this past weekend he commented on the great frame and couldn’t believe what a steal it was. He also said I’ve ruined him in regards to buying new frames as they are SO expensive! So, one of my favorite tricks (which now my son also does) is to buy cool frames or pictures with great frames as I find them. Then, it’s easy to switch out the print or picture with something you love instead. Or even make it into a mirror or chalkboard! This not only saves a ton of money, but gives your piece more character with a one-of-a-kind look! I have a dozens of frames in my treasure room awaiting just the right project. So, keep your eyes out for great looking frames when you visit those thrift stores or antique stores! Or, as in this case, you may love what’s already in it!
Isn’t this a fun picture? I love her fur coat, heels and her sweet dogs. And of course she is carrying flowers. All things I love! What do you think? Anyway, I’m loving it for now and I think it gives this room a youthful vibe. And I loved the price!
Thanks for stopping by today! Check back in this week as I’m going to share with you a new recipe! Hint: It has an Asian flair and is so delicious and different! Let’s chat soon? xoxo Dell
