Happy Thursday, my friends! Today’s post is not in the least bit glamorous, but hey, it’s 2020! So, I’m allowed to get a little excited about a stainless steel trash can for the Butler’s Pantry, right? Come check it out! @simplehuman #simplehuman
If you saw earlier in the week, we (meaning my husband) installed a new ice machine in our Butler’s Pantry. Tada!!
Well, the spot where the new ice machine sits is where the trash can sat previously. It was just an old brown, plastic can with a white liner. Not very pretty. So, with our sleek new stainless steel ice machine, I thought a matching stainless steel trash can would look nice too! (And a trash can in this room is a must.)
I wanted a large, rectangular trash can with a lid to hide the contents. We use this room to serve food and drinks when we entertain, so an attractive trash can was high on my wish list. I also wanted one with a foot pedal to operate the lid hands-free. (Also handy for disposing diapers when the need arrises.) I googled “stainless steel trash cans” and came up with a long list of options. After measuring the opening of where the trash can would be, I added that to my search criteria. Here’s what I came up with!
It’s a tall trash can by simple human via Amazon. By trash can standards, it was a little pricey at $99 but it was the perfect size, shape and met all of my needs. Just in case you are interested, it’s the “simple human 45 liter rectangular, hands-free kitchen step trash can with soft close, brushed stainless steel with plastic lid.” Quite the mouth full. Here is how it looks! I wish the trash can was a bit taller in order to fill the space better, but I had to allow clearance for the lid to open and close freely.
A few things I like about this trash can is that it holds extra bags in the back of the trash can, so as you empty one bag, you can simply pull out another from inside the trash can. Pretty cool. Another nice thing about this can is there is a plastic easy-lift frame that holds the trash bag in place and at the same time hides the edge of the trash bag from showing when the lid is closed. This makes for a neat and clean look. Note: I ordered simple human trash bags at the same time and they perfectly fit the size of this trash can. For about $22 I got a pack of 60 refills. I stuck the box behind the trash can for quick and easy access.
And here is the new trash can and the ice maker side-by-side in their matching stainless steel glory! Just in time for the holidays!
And just for fun, here is a before and after of this same space…..
I hope you are all enjoying some of this beautiful weather! It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is just a few short weeks away! Have you started preparing yet? Also I’m curious if you plan to decorate early for Christmas this year? It’s 2020 and ANYTHING goes!! Let’s DO IT!! Have a great day and let’s chat soon! xoxo Dell
P.S. Here is a picture of our beautiful grandson. Sweetest and cutest baby in the country! (in our humble opinion)
