Happy Tuesday! With just 5 days away from Christmas I really should be doing something more productive, like finishing my cards, shopping or wrapping gifts. But today I got side tracked making these sweet little snow ski Christmas decorations out of my boy’s old skis! So sweet.
Because I am a hoarder extraordinaire, I saved many of my boy’s toys, clothes and sports equipment from their childhood. One thing I kept all of these years is their first pair of skis. I think they are so tiny and cute. When my boys were ages 2 and 4 we moved to Colorado and since we were just an hour from the slopes, they learned to ski early on. My younger son still was in diapers and had a pacifier!
I wanted to make a keepsake out of the skis and meant to do it last year. But, I got busy and it didn’t happen. So, this year it did! It was easier than I anticipated. I took two Command velcro strips and secured each ski on top of the other in an X shape. Then I wired a ribbon and pick around both skis to secure them further and to add a bit of color. I formed a hook on the back of each ski with the wire from the bow. Here is how they turned out! One set for each of my boys.
I plan on hanging the skis over each of the twin beds for the holidays. We still have the little boots (of course) that go with the skis in case anyone wants to actually use them again, they are still fully functional! I have a feeling skis have come a long way in the last 20 or so years, so these may be obsolete, but still. Precious and fun memories! Nicky’s skis still have the tape with his name from when he was in toddler ski school. Love it.
These were Nicky’s skis and this is his old room. At some point I’ll give the boys their skis as a decoration in their homes.

It’s perfect that the skis are Christmasy colors too! See? Hoarding pays off.
Well, I’m going to actually start working on my Christmas cards! If yours is late, you know why! Thank you for stopping by! Have a great evening! oxox Dell
