TGIF, friends! Today I want to share with you a fun and inexpensive idea. A while back, shortly after my son got engaged, I found this darling collage frame at a thrift store for $6. I thought it would be the perfect frame to house their important dates & memories during their engagement period and wedding! Come see how it turned out!
Once my son proposed to his long time girlfriend, everything was set into motion! To kick off the festivities, my husband and I hosted an engagement party for the couple at our lake house. (aka Happy Hill) We sent out invitations to the wedding party, both families and a few close, local friends.
Then came the Bridal Shower hosted by my sisters at our sister-in-law’s house. The theme was Paris, since my daughter-in-law’s company is headquartered in Paris and she travels there quite often. (My older sister, Wendy, ordered custom stamps with a picture of the happy couple taken at the engagement party, for a special added touch.)
In addition to the other festivities, there was a brunch hosted by the bride’s aunts and uncles.
The couple had a local artisan fashion their beautiful wedding invitations. I thought it would be nice to showcase all of these special invitations in a way they could enjoy forever. When I found this frame at a thrift store, I thought it was perfect! Conveniently, all of the openings in each of the frames was 5″ X 7″. Some were vertical and some horizontal, which was the same size as all of the invitations.
I cleaned the glass and removed the pictures of the nice looking strangers. Then I arranged the invitations accordingly. The couple’s gorgeous wedding invitation was top and center.
Here is the frame filled with all of the invitations. There was one spot left on the bottom so I had a copy of one of their engagement photos printed. (Engagement photos taken by the incomparable Libby Hansen Smith, our good friend and former neighbor.) There was room for the engagement party invitation, the rehearsal dinner, the bridal shower, the brunch and their wedding invitation. How perfect is that?
Now the frame is hanging in their apartment! They can look back fondly and remember the fun-filled year and all of the events leading up to the big day. (and remember the dates!)
So, if you run across one of these collage frames, snatch it up and fill it with sentimental mementoes. Wouldn’t this make a unique wedding gift? Plus, if you wanted to further customize the frame, you could always paint it! (Gold, maybe?) But, I thought the black was just fine!
Well, thank you for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulous weekend and stay warm my friends! xo Dell
