Happy Wednesday, friends! We didn’t have our precious grandson today so I took advantage of a dreary and rainy day by organizing our spice cabinet. (I would have much rather played cars with Ford!) Come see how I used my new easy label maker to help! @niimbot #niimbot
For one of my Christmas presents my husband bought me this handy little label maker. Knowing my goal of getting organized this year, this is the perfect little tool! It’s the NIIMBOT Label Maker Machine with tape and runs about $29 on Amazon. See how small it is?
As soon as you open the small printer, the first thing you do is download their app on your cell phone. Then it’s as easy as turning on the printer and keying in the label name on your phone! You can adjust the size of the font (which I didn’t know at first or I would have made some of the labels larger.) Then just print away!
Last year I redid our spice drawer and I LOVE it! (to see more click here: Spice Jars with Labels! These are our most used spices so it’s nice to have them right across from the stove within arm’s reach.
Well, of course ALL of our spices wouldn’t fit into the designated spice drawer and we had a lot of extras. So, they are housed in the narrow pull-out drawers also near the cooking station. The problem was when you pulled out the drawer you had to lift each jar to find the spice you wanted. Such a hassle!
So, I used some of the leftover round labels from the other set of labels and put them on the tops of the jars for easy identification. Ones that didn’t have a pre-printed label, I made one!
Now when we pull out the drawer we can see which spices are in that drawer at a glance! While I was at it, I combined spices and discarded ones past the expiration date. I think we will really enjoy this!
I even labeled the tops of things like baking powder and baking soda for quick identification.
The other drawers in this cabinet are also pull-outs which is super handy, but again, the labels on the spices fall below the drawer’s edge making them difficult to read or identify. Another guessing game….
I made more labels with my label maker and stuck them on the containers above the original labels where they can be easily read. Much better! The stickers adhere to the plastic containers quite well and don’t smear or smudge!
I was on a roll so I made even more labels and put them on the higher up containers and shelves so I can find what I’m looking for without getting out the ladder! (These items are ones we don’t use as often so being in an upper drawer makes sense.)
The top shelf of this cabinet doesn’t have a drawer and luckily I can still reach it, so I put my olive oil and vegetable oil up here because of their height.
We have SO many spices, I know, but now at least we can find what we need at a glance!
And the larger spices are easier to identify as well! Thanks little label maker! (and Brad)
My year long clean-a-thon continues! In case you missed my post earlier in the week, be sure to check out my other drawer make overs here: Drawer Organization! I still have so far to go, but I keep telling myself if I do a little bit every week then I’ll reach my goal by year’s end! Tell me, what are you working on? I hope you have a wonderful day! Until next time, may the good Lord take a liking to you. With love from me and Roy Rogers. xo Dell
