Happy Thursday, friends! If you are like me, you are having a hard time finding certain items at your grocery store, thanks to “supply chain” issues. (Such as Jimmy Dean Sausage.) Come check out a Jimmy Dean Sausage Substitute!
Around Christmas I was looking for Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage and couldn’t find it anywhere! We were having our children and grandson for the holidays and wanted to have plenty of breakfast meat on hand. After searching at several different stores I finally gave up on finding Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage and bought a pack of sausage patties from Walmart.
A pack of 30 sausage patties by Swaggerty’s was under $10 in the frozen food section. (And if you’ve priced Jimmy Dean, it’s around $4 for a pound or about 10 slices.) These are pre-sliced and handy for cooking and/or making biscuits.
So, we fried up a batch of sausage patties and added a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to one side as they were cooking. And they are really good! Of course if you don’t like the spice you can skip the red pepper flakes, but we like a little heat.
We like to make a bunch of sausage or bacon at a time then put it in the refrigerator for later in the week for a quick and easy breakfast. (without the mess) Honestly we still prefer Jimmy Dean, but until the shortages are resolved, this is a great substitute so I thought I”d pass it along!
My husband suggested even mixing the patties up with some red pepper flakes and making the patties a bit thicker, so that’s an option too. Or mix up the patties and use in your favorite sausage ball recipe.
Well, I”m still over here de-Christmasing our house and we are in full demo mode on our fireplace. To see more of the fireplace project you can go here: Fireplace Makeover!
One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to be more organized and intentional. That means I plan to start organizing my closets, storage spaces, and even my Treasure Room! This is going to be a huge step for me because I am a border line hoarder/saver of all pretty things. I’ll share my strategy (as soon as I figure it out) and pictures along the way. Maybe we can support each other and give each other ideas? Let’s do it! Meanwhile, I hope you have a great week! Until next time, love & hugs, Dell
