Happy Tuesday, friends! Have you ever wanted to hang a picture on a kitchen backsplash, yet didn’t want to permanently drill into the tile? Then you need to check my latest picture hanging hack using Alien Tape! Come see!
I’ve had this painting for years which I bought at a consignment store on clearance for $25. Hence, I don’t really mind if it gets a little grease or water on it. I just loved the frame and the French Country vibe. Until last week I simply had it propped up behind the cooktop, where it did tend to get a bit greasy. (See the painting in the background at Christmas?)
I wanted to hang the picture, but I didn’t want it to be a permanent solution, because knowing me, I”ll change it at some point. Enter Alien Tape!
I saw an advertisement on television around Christmas and ordered a set of 3 rolls. I thought this would be a lot of tape, but actually it takes quite a bit to hang just one picture. The directions recommend you use tape on all 4 sides of your project. So, I marked where I wanted the picture to be on the backsplash and made a pencil mark. Then I cut four pieces of Alien Tape and put a strip on all sides, removing the backing so that it stuck to the back of the frame. Then I held it up to the wall to make sure it was where I wanted it. I peeled off the backing of the tape that would adhere it to the tile. Using a level on top of the frame I carefully pushed it into place on the center mark. (You need to hold it firmly into place for 30-60 seconds.)
And here’s how it looks! No drilled holes, no mess, just a pretty picture just where I wanted it! When I am ready to take it down, I’ll simply pull it away from the wall and remove the tape. IMPORTANT NOTE** Do NOT use Alien Tape on sheet rock as it will be permanent. If you try to remove it, it will pull off the sheet rock and/or paint. (Thankfully I read the directions for once.)
This is the first time I’ve ever used Alien Tape and so far I like it! When I decide to take down the picture or replace it with something else, I’ll be sure to let you know how easy or difficult it is. I think for the holidays this year I”ll do something festive in this spot. I”m even wondering if Alien Tape could hold a hook for a wreath perhaps?
Alien Tape can be found directly on the company’s website or on Amazon. You can get 3 rolls for around $20. So, you can keep it all for future projects or share! But be sure to read all of the instructions!
Well, that’s my tip for the day! My husband and I are still pondering our fireplace dilemma. We have a repairman coming later this week to look at our existing fire logs to see if they can be repaired. Fingers crossed, since this would be the best and least expensive option for us. Later I’ll share with you the styles we are considering for the mantle and I’d love to have your opinion on which you like the best! Until then, hope y’all have a wonderful week! Much love, Dell

I think this is bogus. We have been trying to hang a ball rack and have used two rolls of the tape and it keeps falling down. I wont get this anymore and I wont reckamind it to anyone I know.
Hi Sandy, I was disappointed too! After I wrote this, my picture stayed up for about a month and then it came crashing down on my stove. Thankfully there was no glass and the frame was fine. Live and learn, right?
Believed the hype and bought it ; tried to use it on fabric and carpet; absolutely useless. I would not recommend it as it doesn’t hold on the carpet backing or face. It will damage your walls if you use it on a painted rywall surface. Will never buy again or recommend it for anyhing.
Hi, Ken. I used the tape on a picture in my kitchen on tile and it held for about two months. Suddenly it came crashing down as the tape gave way. It didn’t damage the tile and thankfully it didn’t break the glass. I wouldn’t use it again except for very light weight things and not on sheet rock. Thank you for your feedback! Best, Dell
