Happy Tuesday! I’m happy to see the sun despite the ominous forecast. The painters are still here and in my mind I’m in my happy place. Happy Hill! Last week I had some of our lights switched out at the lake house with vintage light fixtures. Want to see?
Our electrician was the nicest guy! Not once did he look at me as if I had lost my mind when I showed him my light fixtures. All in all he replaced 8 lights for me. Some of them played musical chairs while others were switched out all together. A few of the lights required some special attention.
The vintage carriage lamps my husband got me for Christmas were tricky. I painted them black the day before the electrician (Davey) arrived. I liked the white they were before but I was afraid they would blend in with the white brick columns too much. So, black spray paint to the rescue. (I swear I wish I owned stock in spray paint.) The original light fixture on the column out front was nothing fancy. And come to find out it wasn’t even attached to the column but simply anchored with a weight. Hey, it worked! (I’m saving the weight as a souvenir.)
There is a matching column out back near the lake. Davey replaced that light as well. Here is the new vintage light. He used LED light bulbs in all of the fixtures he installed. These carriage lamps don’t have glass inside the fixture to protect the light bulb so he thought LED lights were the best option. I hope the lack of glass won’t hurt them. Naturally I didn’t even think of that when we bought them. I still need to clean and repaint the brick column but I LOVE how the vintage lights look. (I see some pressure washing is in our future!)
The light in the hall bathroom was switched out as well. I’ve had this cutie in my treasure room for years and it finally found its spot! I added several gold accents in here recently so this little chandelier fit right in! And of course I love the crystals.
So, slowly but surely things are getting accomplished at Happy Hill. My next project is painting. I LOVE black doors so I think the interior doors will get some black paint soon. I hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by! xoxo Dell
