Greetings and happy Thursday! Today’s post is new, but it is sort of a Throw Back Thursday. I call it that because “oops I did it again.” I bought a chandelier on eBay without first reading the fine print. This is the second time I bought a crystal chandelier that came in a small box. Too small to be the shape of an actual chandelier.
Several months ago I bought a chandelier for my great-niece on eBay. It too came in a small box and I had to have it assembled and wired. I vowed to be more careful in the future and read the fine print. However, in my excitement over the steal of a deal on an all glass Murano chandelier with twenty dollar shipping I jumped on it! When will I learn?? The box came yesterday. As soon as I saw it I knew. The dreaded ASSEMBLY REQUIRED.
I opened the box and it all appears to be in good shape other than the fact it is in a million pieces. (I did this once to my sister and she had her sweet daughter in law put it together for her.) Isn’t it pretty though? My sister had an electrician put it on a plug and it swags over her end table and reading chair.
Now I’m at a loss. I planned on giving it away as a wedding gift, but that would be mean. In its current state that is. It will be gorgeous put together. It is “A Gallery 5-light 1-Tier Murano Venetian Style all crystal chandelier”. Being all glass I understand the necessity of the packing choice but now I know why it was such a great price. It will probably cost twice the amount to have it assembled and wired. Hmmm. Here is how it looked on eBay. I think it’s a beauty! (or will be.)
I was thinking about how my computer has pop-ups for things I’ve been searching for. You know, when you search Ralph Lauren cocktail dresses and suddenly they pop up on the side of your computer screen? Wouldn’t it be nice if the next time I search for crystal chandeliers on eBay, a picture of a tiny cardboard box would pop up and remind me that “requires assembly” is expensive? Or maybe my computer will block me from searching crystal chandeliers altogether? I’ll let you know the fate of the Murano chandelier. It may sit in the box for a LONG time. Meanwhile, I need to go pick up my other chandelier I had put on a plug. (for the wedding. YAY!) And after that I’m signing up for Chandeliers-Anonymous. 😉
I hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by! xoxo Dell
