Bonjour, my friends! Sorry I’ve been a bit absent here lately, but my husband and I were on vacation. WE WENT TO PARIS!!! Ok. Sorry for the excitement and all caps. It was my dream destination and we finally were able to go! This week I thought I’d share a few of the highlights…
My husband and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary earlier this year and so to commemorate, we decided to finally take a long awaited trip to Paris! At first the weather forecast seemed grim, with predictions of rain the first 3 days of our trip. Since we weren’t staying all that long, that could have literally put a damper on the whole trip. However, we flew out last Tuesday, flew all night and arrived in Paris Wednesday morning. It was drizzling when we arrived but by the time we got to our hotel, the rain stopped and it was pleasant and cloudy. Perfect! First stop was the iconic Eiffel Tower!
We learned from a tour guide that the Eiffel Tower was constructed as the entrance to the World’s Fair in 1889 and was supposed to be dismantled 20 years later. But due to its popularity and the fact it was useful as a broadcasting transmitter, they allowed it to stay.
I’m SO glad they didn’t dismantle this beauty, aren’t you?
The last night we were in Paris, I insisted we walk down to the Eiffel Tower and see it lit up at night. It did not disappoint. It was GORGEOUS!
We wanted to see some of the most famous landmarks while we were in Paris, and the Arc de Triomphe was defiantly on the list. The last night we stayed in a Marriott on the Champs-Elysees and it was right down the street!
I am so amazed at the beautiful architecture and detail on every surface! Beautiful!
So, this is just a little taste of our trip to Paris. Later this week I’ll share more pictures of our experiences and pictures of some of the beautiful destinations~and tell you which were our favorites! Plus, I took tons of pictures of some of the most gorgeous chandeliers I’ve ever seen. Stay tuned!! Have a great night sweet friends! xoxo Dell
