Happy Thursday, friends! I’ve had such a busy week so I’m just now getting around to posting. Come check out how we repurposed a quilt rack for drying beach towels!
Our son, daughter-in-law and grandson just moved into their new house last week so it’s been a whirlwind of activity. They are busy unpacking, finding a place for their furniture and belongings, all while taking care of an active 4 month old baby! Meanwhile, my husband and I have been busy helping them, as well as putting a few finishing touches on the exterior of our lake house, aka Happy Hill!
I’ve had this vintage metal quilt rack in my treasure room for years. I love it’s curvy shape and it caught my eye at an antique store. Since I’m not really one for quilts, I decided it would be a perfect drying rack for beach towels and bathing suits at our lake house. The piece is fairly large and in good shape. I just hit it with a dusting of white semi-gloss spray paint and my husband, Brad, helped me hang it.
This spot underneath the stairs faces the afternoon sun so it’s the perfect spot for drying wet towels and suits. My husband added a board across the bottom for support and we painted it white as well.
The rack was a snap to hang and I think it looks pretty but blends in nicely with the white braces on the stairs.
Without any towels or bathing suits hanging, it practically disappears from sight and you can hardly see it from the lake, which was my goal.
I love vintage pieces and this fits right in with our quirky little lake house. The rack hangs right outside of the outdoor shower so it’s the perfect location to hang wet bathing suits and towels before walking up the steps. It would also be a great spot to dry damp life jackets and ski belts.
Another project checked off of our list and my treasure room is slowly emptying out. I’d like to eventually turn it into a play room for our grandson, but I still have quite a way to go. Now that our son and daughter-in-law live nearby, I’m hoping to pawn more stuff on them! Fingers crossed!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you a fabulous day! xoxo Dell
