I love to use candles in my decor. However, an open flame is always risky. The new battery operated candles are wonderful but can also be very pricy. Enter floating candles and a quick decoration you can make in less than five minutes!
During the holidays especially I like to add seasonal touches to our home. Candles offer the perfect ambiance and often smells to add to an occasion. Floating candles offer the glow and are surrounded by the safety of water.
Also as the wick burns it will self extinguish. Here is a quick and safe candle holder that you probably have on hand. You guessed it! A pickle jar!
1-Start with a clean pickle jar (or any other glass container or vase)
2-Add a ribbon – I like gold ribbons like this.
3-Add filler. These are a fall mix of squirrels, acorns and leaves at Michael’s for $4.99 per 10.5 oz bag) The flat clear marbles can be found on Amazon.
4-Add water.
5-Add floating candle (available at Ikea in bulk or on Amazon) Note: the 3″ floating candles are too large for this project so use the two inch floating candles.
Here is one with the clear flat marbles. I think I like these better!
There you have it! A five minute candle holder! Several of these would look nice in a centerpiece. Since they are in water you don’t need to worry about catching the rest of your centerpiece on fire! I have one sitting on my desk as we speak!
Have a great day!
