I can’t believe it is the end of August! This year has flown by! While we were away on vacation my flowers and yard took a beating. So this gives me the perfect opportunity to get a jump start on my fall decorations and flowers!
Today while at the grocery store I picked up my first mums! They were a steal at $5.00 per pot for a large size yellow chrysanthemum. I bought two and brought them home. They fit perfectly in my large urn in the kitchen. I added a few large bows and fall pics I had from year’s past. (the pics fill in the gap between the mums)
And my sweet little concrete statue is standing by. He represents fall as he is holding wheat. I have the other three seasons of statues scattered around my house. The Northern winters are too harsh for these sweet guys so they stay inside!
I plan to spruce up my large urn out back with pumpkins, decorative kale and mums soon. Here is a look at my large urn out back from last year: (I LOVE that urn.)
Although my favorite color is pink, orange is a new favorite! I decorate with a lot of black accents and naturally orange is the perfect compliment! I can’t wait until the pumpkins and gourds come in! Then my fall decorating will begin in earnest! Thanksgiving is actually my favorite holiday. No gifts, just beautiful nature-inspired decor, lots of food, family and festivities! And I love the change of seasons and beautiful fall colors!
Over the years I’ve collected a fun mix of turkeys, pumpkins, and salt and pepper shakers. My (awesome) family loves Thanksgiving and we alternate between the North and the South for our holiday celebration. I’m still not sure which neck of the woods we will be in this year, but either way, I’ll decorate and do tons of cooking! More fall decor and recipes to follow! Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
