Happy Friday Everyone! It’s going to be a COLD one here! I’m in final preparations for Christmas and my dining room still has one final project! And it all started with an oversize frame!
In our dining room we have one large blank wall. A few years ago I had a large tapestry on this wall but after I painted the room blue, the red in the tapestry didn’t go well. It has remained empty until this past weekend. While my husband was in a honey-do mood, I got him to help me hang this oversize frame. Trust me, it took two of us!
I bought this frame a few years ago and it sat in our basement ever since. My plan was to use an antiquing method on some 12″x12″ mirrored tiles and mount them inside the frame. It sounded like a great idea but I never figured out how to mount the tiles in the frame since the inside of the frame is not square. (probably why the frame was such a great price.) Instead we attached hardware on the back and hung the frame on the large empty wall in the dining room. (Lacey thinks a life size portrait of her would look fabulous!)
I toyed with different empty frames and mirrors to hang inside the large frame. I finally decided on this vintage round gold leaf mirror that I had in my stash. The two decorative scroll pieces have been in storage too (they hung over the tapestry) so I dug those out and hung them on each side of the mirror. Since it’s Christmas I tied a faux boxwood wreath (from Target) and a Merry Christmas sign to the top of the frames with a silk ribbon. I love how the blue paint still peeks through behind the mirror and gold plaques. Finally! The dining room is ready for its debut!
I still have a few things to do before Christmas dinner. I’ll share a dining room tour next week after I pull out my Christmas china and set the table. Now we need the kids and Santa! Hope you have a great weekend! xoxo Dell
