Happy Tuesday, Friends! I have been busy the last few days unpacking and cleaning house. We took a quick trip to Washington, DC to see our youngest son over the weekend. But we are back and I thought I’d share a quick crystal cake stand upgrade!
I found a great cake stand a while back while out shopping and thought I’d buy it for my sweet sister-in-law. I have a similar silver one and figured she’d enjoy one too! The one I found is gold and was a steal for a mere $10. This is how it looked shortly after my purchase. ( Crystal Mirror Top Cake Stand here )
The cake stand is in perfect condition but some of the crystals are missing and others are mis-matched. Usually non matching crystals don’t bother me, but in this case I felt like they should all match.
Plus, I was going to use the cake stand for my niece’s shower so I decided to give it a little make over before the shower and before I give it to my SIL. I have lots of these French Pendalogue crystals in my stash so I quickly switched them out. The gold connectors look perfect with the gold cake stand too! ( French Pendalogue Crystals here )
This was a quick and easy fix. It took less than five minutes to switch out the old crystals with the new. Not to mention that the other two cake stands also have the French Pendalogue crystals so this way they all match! And, they all will make another appearance at the wedding reception in a few weeks!
My sister, Wendy has a similar cake stand so I borrowed hers for the bridal shower as well. Here’s how the trio of crystal cake stands looked at the bridal shower last month. So pretty! We topped each with a white paper doilie. My cake stand is a bit larger than the other two so I used a 12″ Duni Premium White Doilie on mine and a 10″ Royal Lace Medallion Lace Doilie for the other two. Plain white cupcakes with vanilla icing never looked so fancy! ( White Paper Cake Doilies here )
Here’s a quick before and after. What a difference a few crystals can make, right?
Later this week I’ll share the newest chandelier addition to our house. (Yes, another crystal chandelier!) Until next time, thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a lovely evening! xoxo Dell
