Happy Thursday, Everyone! Today’s blog post is a throw back in case you missed it the first time. And you may well have missed it since it got lost along with two weeks of my posts in July. (Insert sad face.) But, it is well worth re-sharing because it is about my talented nephew and niece. Come see their beautiful cutting boards and how they had the opportunity to make some for a celebrity wedding!
My nephew Rory, and his wife Audrey are the creative team behind their business Wood and Button. Together they make beautiful handmade products such as cutting boards, wooden spoons, aprons, zipper bags, etc. Recently they had the opportunity to custom make something extra special for a celebrity wedding. Here is the dynamic duo, Rory and Audrey in their shop!
Rory and Audrey started their business together in 2016 but Audrey has been hand crafting the “button or sewing” portion of the business since 2010. Together they have built quite a large social media following which includes over 10,000 Instagram followers!
Through their instagram account they attracted the attention of a celebrity wedding coordinator. She saw Rory’s custom cutting boards and commissioned him to make several hundred boards for a famous actress’s wedding reception. Sworn to secrecy until after the wedding, only a few people knew the identity of the actress. Here is one of the custom cutting boards with the irregular shape and drip edge. Isn’t it gorgeous? And of course, no two are alike!
Rory set to work and was able to make the 475 custom cutting boards in time for the summer nuptials. (along with some help from his wife, family and friends!) Here is Rory with the completed order. That is a LOT of cutting boards!
So who is the mystery celebrity? Here’s a hint. The actress is on the hit television show, The Big Bang Theory. Can you guess who it is? It’s the charming and beautiful actress, Kaley Cuoco! She wed equestrian Karl Cook at a horse farm near San Diego, California on June 30, 2018. Because they share the same initials, they dubbed themselves, “KC squared forever.” Here is a sample place setting at the stunning reception. The cutting boards were used as charger plates.
Isn’t this a stunning table setting? Because the couple share a love of horses and animals, the horse shoe and paw theme was prevalent throughout. They even exchanged vows in front of an enormous flower-encrusted horse shoe!
Quite the wedding reception, right? I love the tall floral centerpieces and the mismatched chairs.
Here is Kaley Cuoco holding one of the cutting boards. Rory dubbed this style cutting board, “The Cook” after the couple’s new last name. And of course other obvious reasons!

This was a huge project for Rory and Audrey but they pulled it off beautifully and with weeks to spare! If you would like to order a “Cook” cutting board of your own or one of their other handmade products you can visit them at www.woodandbutton.com or follow them on instagram @woodandbutton. I love supporting small businesses AND American made products, don’t you?
Thank you to Rory and Audrey for allowing me to share their story and photos! All photo credit goes to Rory and Audrey Joyce and People Magazine.
And also thank you for stopping by and supporting my little blog! I hope you have a terrific day! xo Dell
