Happy Tuesday friends! This post is a quickie, but just too darn cute not to share! Come check out this adorable sweet dreams ceiling medallion!
Our son and daughter-in-law just bought a house! It’s their first purchase after living and renting in Hoboken, NJ for nearly 10 years. After the birth of their first child, a boy, they decided it was time to put down roots and build a life for their growing family in a more suburban environment. We are thrilled they chose a city nearby! We’ve been super excited about their first house and so I’ve been buying a few little house warming gifts along the way. (I really can’t help myself!) Most recently I bought a sweet dreams ceiling medallion for baby’s first nursery.
Ceiling medallions are a great way to showcase a chandelier or light fixture. They are available in so many shapes and styles and I love to incorporate them into my decor. Our grandson is about to have his very own nursery after sleeping in his parent’s bedroom for the first few months. I don’t know what type of light fixture or chandelier they will choose, but when I saw this precious ceiling medallion, I could’t resist!
The medallion is made of lightweight resin and is paintable. It’ measures a generous 18″ in diameter making it a perfect size to showcase many different size light fixtures. A rule of thumb I learned years ago, is a medallion should be either larger or smaller, but not the same size in diameter of whatever fixture you choose. If the medallion and fixture are the same width, it creates a columnar effect, which is not aesthetically pleasing. (Or so they say!) I decided not to paint the medallion a color but will leave it up to our son and DIL to make that choice. I did however decide to give it a few light coats of white semi-gloss paint.
The medallion is dry and ready to hang unless they decide to paint it otherwise. The trim in their new house is a semi-gloss white, so if they choose not to paint the medallion, it will blend in seamlessly with the rest of the room and can be used in a future girl’s nursery as well. This medallion retails for about $35 unpainted on Etsy.
Can’t you just picture this medallion in a nursery with a beautiful chandelier? (On a dimmer switch, of course!) I can hardly wait until they move into their new home and decorate the baby’s room! The nursery is located directly next to their room so it will be handy to have him close by. Thanks to today’s technology, there are video cameras and heart rate monitors that alert anxious parents to their child’s safety even when they are in a different room. This should lead to sweet dreams for everyone!
Two days and counting until the “kids” move into their new house and we couldn’t be happier! Is it possible we are more excited than they are? Probably not, but still, we are thrilled to have them nearby after living away for so long. And my husband thinks our grandson is “his” baby because he was born on his 60th birthday. I guess the rest of us will have to take turns! LOL. Anyway, we are ready to roll up our sleeves and help them anyway we can to facilitate an easy transition and move. Meanwhile, praying for good travel and weather!
I hope you have a great day and thanks as always for stopping by and supporting my little blog! Much love, Dell
