Stone Dream House from The 1800s

There’s no question, it is hard to beat the beauty and charm of an old stone house!  Bucks County, Pennsylvania is packed with lovely old stone houses, barns and silos.  So many of the homes are currently on the market, including this beauty!

This stone house, built in 1813 is one of my favorites.  I drive by it constantly and know it has been vacant and on the market for several years.  Recently the price was dropped again but it still hasn’t sold.

This house is located on a 1.3 acre lot but on a fairly busy street.  The location and the fact it needs a lot of work must be prohibitive to most buyers.  Sometimes my husband and I stop by and walk the property and peek through the windows.  Oh, how I would love to get my hands on this place!!  I wish I could pick it up and move it to North Carolina!

This gorgeous 200 year old fieldstone house has 2300 square feet and boasts 4 bedrooms and one bathroom.  I imagine the bedrooms are quite small since they’re all located on the second level.  The lone bathroom is probably upstairs as well.  To increase functionality, a half bathroom could be added to the main level.  The walls are undoubtably made of plaster, and the wiring looks outdated as well.  This place requires a total renovation.   However, don’t you love the Carolina Blue shutters and front door? How about the  the gingerbread trim and covered front porch?   Most of all, the stonework is absolutely gorgeous!

Additionally, the Carolina blue can be found inside the house.   Several of the rooms on the main floor are this shade.   Check out the tall baseboards and the original hardwood floors!   I love the vintage light fixture as well.  I can envision crystal door knobs and huge crown molding in every room.  And finally of course, tons of crystal chandeliers…..

Below is the side view.  The little white covered area with the door and windows is just off of the kitchen. Furthermore, this little room looks as though it was a later addition, hence the window in the kitchen.

I am so in love with this house!  It is nearly impossible to replicate such old beauty and charm.  I hope someone special buys this lovely place and gives it the love and attention it deserves.   It even has a barn with what appears to be a studio on the second floor.  With the right amount of loving care, this place will be a show stopper!   Sigh….
