Happy Wednesday Friends! I seriously hope you aren’t tiring of bridal shower posts. Honestly, I could post about the bridal shower for weeks! We all spent so much time thinking and planning for the bridal shower, it can hardly be covered in just a few blog posts. I really put a lot of thought into one of my favorite gifts for my future DIL. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue….
I know it’s an old tradition for the bride to carry at the wedding something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. So, I wanted to give my future daughter in law a unique gift that incorporated it all. After much thought, I found the perfect combination. (I hope) In the end, I found something old, and something new. I had a tough time finding something borrowed and blue so I combined the two. Here is how I wrapped the gifts:
I found this pretty gold and white wrapping paper and started from there. I printed the words using my printer and cut them out with a paper punch.
Once I wrapped each gift, I glued the cutouts on the front of each present. I used self stick tape to adhere each present on top of the next. I tied them all together with glittery gold ribbon. (I love glitter ribbon, even though it’s a bit messy.)
On top of the tower of gifts I attached a gold lock with their names and keys to symbolize their “love lock” in Paris. About a year ago they were in Paris and did the traditional love lock on the gate with their initials scratched into the lock. This one says, Chase & Brie Forever 11.11.17. (I found it on Etsy) This way they have a replica. They can either keep the lock for themselves, or they can put it on the gate next time they are in Paris! (Plus it went along perfectly with the Parisian theme of the shower!)
I decided to put my own twist on tradition. For something old, I found a pair of vintage wine glasses that say, “Bride” and ” Groom”. I bought them at a consignment store and I love they were in their original container. I think it will be fun for them to make their first toast as husband and wife at the reception with these sweet glasses. And they can keep them and toast on future anniversaries!
Something new? I bought a beautiful hair comb with Swarovski crystals and pearls to wear at the wedding. This is similar to the one I found…
Something borrow and blue? I couldn’t decide. So, I gave her the garter I wore at my wedding. It’s blue. I called it borrowed and blue, but it’s a gift. I have another garter that I’ll give her to toss so she can keep this one. After all, it’s given me luck the last 33 years of marriage, so I think she should hang on to it. My parents have been married for 60 years this coming January and my husband’s parents have been married for 63. I think we have a good thing going.
I think sometimes it’s not the amount of money you spend on a gift, but the thought that goes into it. I’m all about sentimentality! We did give the sweet couple a gift from their registry as well as a framed picture from their engagement photo shoot. (Photo Credit-Libby Hansen Smith)
I feel so blessed to have such a talented and lovely group of people surrounding this wedding. The next few months are going to be amazing!
I hope you have a lovely day! Thank you as always for stopping by! xo Dell

Dell, they do the lock thing in Italy (Florence is where I saw it). Lovers lock the lock and throw the key in the river, so their love is forever. Funny thing…..I saw a few combination locks!
I didn’t know they did the love locks in Italy, too! That’s hilarious about the combination locks. Just in case you change your mind? LOL. Thanks for commenting Leigh! xo Dell
