Greetings and happy Wednesday, friends! This sure was a busy day around here! We scheduled our favorite electrician to stop by mid-morning and do a couple of things for us that are outside of our pay grade. One being to move an electrical outlet for a new microwave. Come check out a Sharp microwave oven drawer!
So, this was our old microwave. I love the fact it is below the counter and out of sight. However, in order to reheat our coffee, we must squat down on the floor and squint at the control buttons unless we happen to have our reading glasses handy. (Yes, we are getting old.) My husband and I wanted a microwave that was easier to access without bending over, etc.
After a bit of research, my husband found a drawer model microwave by Sharp, that would fit into this same space. So, once we ordered the new microwave and it came, we scheduled the electrician to come and move the outlet. (Because naturally, the new microwave requires the plug be on the opposite side. Figures.) Before the electrician came, my husband removed the old unit. This is the opening.
And because NOTHING we ever do is simple, it took the electrician, his assistant and my husband several hours to move and install the new plug and microwave. But, they did it! Here is how the new drawer model looks. See that rectangular center panel at the top?
Well, it folds down to reveal the control panel. Even more amazing than being able to see the panel without squatting down, is the Open/Close button. You simply push the button and the drawer opens. You place your coffee (or whatever) in the drawer and push close. Wallah! There is even a 30 second quick cook button~perfect for reheating your coffee!
I love the sleek look of the new microwave and the fact that the control panel folds up neatly out of the way. Suffice it to say we are so excited to finally get this new appliance for our kitchen! In case you are wondering, this 24 inch, 1.2 cubic inch microwave is by Sharp. (Model SMD2470AS.) On Amazon it sells for $1,199.00.
I have a feeling this new microwave is going to be a game changer in our kitchen for years and years to come! And, because the microwave project took so long, a few of my other projects got put on the back burner. But tomorrow is another day! Hopefully tomorrow the other lovelies will be installed so I’ll be sure to share them with you! Meanwhile, I hope you have a wonderful evening! Hugs, Dell
