I like to pick up wooden frames whenever I find them. If they have a nice shape and a good price, I snap them up!
I bought 2 identical frames a while back and wasn’t sure what I would do with them. I saw a fun project on Pinterest recently and decided these frames were perfect candidates! The project featured Scrabble pieces on a magnetic board.
The inside of my frames were 12″x24″. As luck would have it, I found pieces of sheet metal at Home Depot in those exact dimensions! So, it was a very simple process. I bought 2 pieces of the sheet metal and attached them inside of each frame with my glazing gun. I bought 2 sets of loose Scrabble pieces on eBay. (They can be bought in complete sets.) I also bought a box of small round magnets. They were sold in bulk. They have a sticky side, but they don’t stick that well, so I ended up gluing the magnets to the backs of the letters. Easy!
Pretty cute, huh? I added some hanging hardware on the back. The frames can be hung on the wall and used to write notes, make a grocery list or reminders. Or, you can take it off of the wall and play an impromptu game of Scrabble! I have a feeling these will go to my boys as a surprise. Shhhhh!
