Happy Tuesday, sweet friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! Come check out a cute DIY project my son did over the weekend. It’s a plastic playhouse makeover!
A generous neighbor recently gave our grandson some toys that her son had outgrown. One being this cute little outdoor cottage by Step 2. The playhouse was in great shape and still had all of the working and moving parts. It had gotten a little faded over the years by the sun, so this past weekend, it got a little makeover by our son, Chase.
First, Chase removed the roof of the house which was held in place with screws. He cleaned all of the parts and got to work!
He painted the roof with black spray paint and allowed it to dry thoroughly.
He painted the base of the entire house in a crisp white. The doors, shutters and table were painted black to match the roof. After it was all dry, Chase reattached the roof. And here’s the finished play house! Isn’t it adorable?
And here is the tiny homeowner, Ford, and his dog, Belle, who’s not allowed in the house. (Yet.)
Here’s a quick before and after. What a huge difference! Now the house looks so much better in their back yard and matches the style of their beautiful house. And all for the cost of a few cans of spray paint! I think my son plans to add a vintage door knob and a little bell later, but for now our grandson has a darling little playhouse that will provide hours and hours of imagination and fun! Great job, Chase!
Well, speaking of painting, I’d better get busy! I’m still painting our kitchen and dining room. Today I’m concentrating on Ford’s reading nook. I hope to get it done by tomorrow when he visits! (To check out my progress see my stories on Instagram!) Have a great day my friends! Until next time… xoxo Dell
