Happy Monday, sweet friends! Today I want to share with you a quick little loggia makeover I did last week! And it all started with painted wicker furniture! Come check out the details and see what you think!
When we bought our house nearly 3 years ago, the previous owners left behind this gorgeous wicker patio set. The love seats were in great shape structurally, but just needed a little TLC.
After years of being exposed to the elements the paint had faded and some of the wicker was starting to splinter. I decided to repair the spots and give it all a fresh coat of paint.
So, I went with tan. It took nearly 20 cans of spray paint! I liked the lighter color, but it still wasn’t doing it for me. However, I didn’t dare paint it again after spending so much time and money. It stayed this way until last week.
Last Friday was the day! My husband helped me spread tarps out in the yard and we carried the furniture outside. I blew off the furniture with the blower and then hand brushed it to remove any pollen and dirt. I chose a color called “French Cream” in a matte finish by Rust-Oleum from @loweshomeimprovement. You can see the color is not all that dramatically different, but to me it looks SO much better!
A side-by-side comparison shows the contrast.
Twelve cans of spray paint later, and it’s finished! I allowed the furniture to dry for 24 hours. Meanwhile, my husband pressure washed the loggia and we cleaned everything off. Time to put back the furniture, which of course required two sets of hands.
I liked the previous L-shaped seating arrangement because it was more cozy and intimate for conversation, but my husband insisted we try it a different way. So, we placed the love seats side by side underneath the windows. (I wasn’t happy with the new configuration and said as much. And I was thinking to myself that I would change it back when he went out of town.) But once I started putting the tables and accessories back, I admit it was growing on me! And you can, in fact, see the golf course green perfectly from both seats now.
What do you think? The L-Shape configuration or side-by-side? I must admit I like the side by side now. It also helps that the furniture is lighter and the whole space feels fresh and clean! (The little nesting tables got a fresh coat of paint too.) Now I feel like we will actually entertain down here!
Here’s another look at the furniture placement. I added a few more pillows, a lamp and a few plants. The OCD in me wishes I had another matching ottoman, but this will do for now. Perhaps this afternoon after my husband and I play golf we will sit down here with a cocktail and cheer on the other golfers!
Another benefit of this furniture placement is the wicker and cushions are better protected from the elements now. This, and the fresh paint, will help prolong the life of the furniture. Now, just to keep the pollen off of it!
Well, thanks for stopping by! Please leave me a comment and tell me how you like the new furniture arrangement! Hope you have a great day! xoxo Dell
