TGIF, friends! Today’s post is a quickie. (Mainly because I am SO far behind with my shopping and gift wrapping.) So today I’m going to share with you a painted desk! Come see what it looks like now!
Our older son, Chase, and his beautiful wife recently bought a new house. They have been slowly finding interesting pieces of furniture they need in order to fill the rooms to suit their needs. And because they, like so many others are working from home these days, they both needed new desks. They found a beautiful desk for my DIL’s office and my son transformed it with paint and a few decorative onlays. To see more of that project click here:How To Refinish a Desk!
Chase was still on the lookout for a desk for his office when we spotted this beauty for sale by one of our neighbors, who was moving. She was selling her late husband’s desk for a mere $25. The desk has generous storage and a built-in file drawer, as well as the original key. All in all a great desk, just a little dated. A little paint and elbow grease is all that’s required. And, Chase is on the case! (I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it. Our baby grandson is obsessed with Paw Patrol.)
So we hauled the desk to our son’s house in our truck and he took it from there. The top of the desk has pretty green leather inserts which are still in great shape. Rather than paint over the leather, Chase carefully taped it off and painted the desk in a pretty satin black finish. Isn’t it pretty? Now he will have a nice big desk to work from with loads of storage and workspace!
And a quick before and after! I think the black paint updates the desk and makes the green leather really pop! Nice work, son! Such a masculine look too, with the brass hardware. I love it!
Well, I’m off to wade through my treasure room so I can get to my gift wrap station. Next week I’ll share a bit of my Christmas decor and maybe a recipe or two? Let’s chat soon and y’all have a great weekend!! xoxo Dell
