Happy Monday, Friends! I have some exciting news to share. Does it involve sparkly crystals chandeliers, you ask? Mais Qui! Come see the latest progress in our Butler’s Pantry renovation!
Last week was HUGE for our Butler’s Pantry. Our talented carpenter built and installed two brand new cabinets. One goes over the top of the refrigerator:
And the other new cabinet rests atop the former broom closet. (Soon to be food storage). Both new cabinets and doors are primed and ready for paint! The two additional cabinets will yield tons of extra storage for those seldom used but necessary items such a chafing dishes, and turkey fryers, etc. Our carpenter/contractor, Jay, skillfully replaced the crown molding around the tops of the cabinets. Now it’s all ready for the next step!
After the carpenter finished his piece of the puzzle, the electrician came. He installed four outlets where there were none. And, he installed much-needed under the cabinet lighting. Wow! What a difference it makes in this room! The granite countertops are illuminated and makes this a completely transformed work space! (You can see the old light fixtures and some countertop clutter, all which will go away. I just wanted to show you the amazing new task lighting. I’ll share more about the under the counter lighting soon, but suffice it to say, we love it!
The plan is to tile the back splash completely with tiles that match the existing tile on the walls in the room. We found the exact tiles at The Tile Shop in Charlotte. They are on stand-by waiting while we do a few other things in here. The photo below shows the wall tile we are using. It’s a pretty travertine tumbled stone in Claros Silver. Luckily it is a fairly common tile and easy to find.
Then, the piece de la resistance is the double chandeliers! And you know how I feel about double chandeliers! I’ve had these for a few years. First they made an appearance at my son’s engagement party, and more recently at my niece’s wedding. After these special occasions, I knew they would be the crowning touch in the Butler’s Pantry. Not only do they have more wattage than the old fixtures, but you can see through them giving the appearance of airiness and light. Lovely, yes?
I love the delicate shape of the chandeliers and how they are lined in glass crystal bead detail.
After the chandeliers were in place, I added the extra crystals from my stash. I am totally in love. But something about the chandeliers bothered me. The candle sleeves are PLASTIC. (plastic=yuck in my world) So, I ordered some new candle sleeves which should arrive today if Amazon Prime is prompt. The new ones are black cardboard with gold drips. Some of my other chandeliers have the white candle sleeves with drips, but I thought black ones would show up better against the backdrop of the soon-to-be cream-colored cabinets. This is not an expensive fix by any means, but I think the change will elevate the look of the fixtures. I’ll take some before and after pictures and you can decide for yourself.
The weather forecast calls for rain all week, so guess what the Butler and I are doing? We are going to start the arduous task of priming and painting the cabinets in the Butler’s Pantry. Yay! And I mean, yay in a good and sarcastic way. I am dying to have the room finished yet dreading the task at hand. This project is one we have dreamt of since we moved into the house and we are SO close! I’ll share progress along the way. Our goal is to have them completed by the end of the week. Please keep us in your prayers this week. You know how husband/wife projects can go. Sort of like wallpapering a tiny bathroom together…
For now, we are loving the extra light in the BP. (Butler’s Pantry) Thanks for stopping by today! I love it when you pop by and give me your feedback! I hope you have a wonderful day! xoxo Dell
