I love using trays in my decor. They look nice and help organize things in a cohesive way. They can also be quite pricy! This is an easy and affordable way to make your own!
I found an old oval frame with a piece of glass at an antique store. I added a pair of vintage handles. Most any type of frame or handles could work. It stayed like this for some time.
It wasn’t until I was cleaning out some of my son’s college things that I ran across a world map that was torn. Rather than throw it away, I decided it would look cool as a back drop for my tray. Using the frame as a template, I traced out the most desirable section of the map. I liked the way the circular piece looked in the corner of the map, so I cut it out with an exacto knife and glued in on the map below and left of the USA and Mexico. I cut out out the oval shape for the tray and used spray adhesive (that dries clear) to mount the map to the underside of the glass. I stuck some felt pads on the under side. I love how it turned out.
I put the tray in several different spots until it landed on my beverage station. It corrals the bottles nicely! Cheers!
Check out the Beverage Station that my Map Tray occupies! Also, here is a post about the clock that appears in this picture as well…
