Happy Wednesday, friends! Recently I went on a shopping trip with my son and his sweet girlfriend. We all found lots of goodies, but I really love mine! Come check out my cool find! (Hint: Lenox Dishes!)
My husband and I were back in Doylestown, PA a few weeks ago. We lived there for about 20 years, and I must say our old stomping grounds has some of the best shopping ever! They have several thrift stores that are a treasure trove of goodies at great pieces. The two best ones are appropriately named, “Good Stuff”. And one of my favorite things to search for when thrifting are vintage dishes.
Imagine my delight when I spotted these beauties! When I picked up the first dish and turned it over, I discovered they were by Lenox. They were in mint condition and just $40 for the set of 8. Just $5 each. Sold!
Each dish features two mallard ducks in different flight patterns. I thought they would be a perfect addition to our dishes at the lake house! I have one set of every day dishes I’ve had since the 80’s by Pfaltzgraff, and now we have a pretty set of nicer china for special occasions. I immediately washed them and put them in the plate rack over the microwave so they are easily accessible and also a decorative accent. Double win!
Just out of curiosity, I looked up “Lenox mallard duck plates” and some of them sell for $30 per plate. So, I’m pretty pleased with my purchase! I hope our guests will enjoy them just as much as we do. After all, there are tons of ducks on the lake plus lots of cute babies this time of year. We hear the female mallards quacking to their baby ducklings to keep them close. This call is termed, “the hail call”. Fun fact of the day…
Well, our sweet grandson is coming today for our weekly date. So, I’m going to pull out the tiny cars (aka match box cars which are his favorites) and the other bins of trucks and trains. It’s going to be a fun day! Hope y’all have a fun day too! Until next time, hugs and air kisses. Dell
