Happy Tuesday, friends! Can you believe we are well into January already? With a new grandson who is now mobile, we are all thinking of ways to baby proof our houses and make things safer for our little guy. One way is to use a laundry basket in a tub! Come check it out!
I saw this idea on Pinterest a few years ago, well before we had a grandchild, and I thought it was genius! So, I filed it in the back of my brain. Over the holidays when our children and grandson were staying with us, his sweet Mommy decided to give him a bath. They didn’t bring his infant bath tub with them so I suggested we bathe him in the laundry room sink. My Mother bathed my younger sister and brother in our kitchen sink many years ago and I guess it just stuck with me.
I have two of these small laundry baskets that I used in the past to put my boy’s clean socks and underwear in so they would (theoretically) put them away. I saved them all these years and had them in the attic. Since the laundry room sink is stainless steel and slippery, I thought the laundry basket would help support the baby and keep him upright. It would also prevent him from tipping back and potentially hitting his head on the granite. And it fit perfectly in the sink!
At first, he was a little unsure. This was the first time he’d sat upright while getting a bath. But his Mommy gave him his pacifier and we found a few toys and he adjusted quickly! (How cute is he??)
Belle was a little unsure at first too, and concerned about what we were doing to her baby. Once she checked it out, she was fine with it. Still, she sat just a few feet away monitoring the situation. Such a good big sister.
And then, the bath was Ford approved! In the end he was splashing and playing. And it bought a few more minutes of entertainment before his bedtime. And it was much easier on his Mommy’s back than the bath tub!
I loved this picture of Ford so much I framed it and put it by “his” sink in the Butler’s Pantry. Now every time I see it, it makes me smile! TIP: This Johnson’s Bedtime Bath Liquid smells wonderful! Our daughter-in-law leaves some at our house now too. Johnson’s claims it is “the only routine proven to help improve baby’s sleep.” It smells like lavender, is hypoallergenic, and gentle on our baby’s sensitive skin.
I love how this small laundry basket fits so nicely in the laundry sink. The baby still has room to splash around and play, but helps support him and keeps him from tipping over in the sink. I’ve also seen a full-size laundry basket used in a bath tub for babies that are a little bit older and bigger, so that’s an option too. So, whoever thought of this idea, my hats off to you. I’m simply passing it along!
Well, I”m off to hang blinds. Later this week I’ll share with you the update on one of the guest rooms in the basement. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I can install these blinds by myself! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous day! Much love, Dell
