Happy Tuesday, friends! I am still working on the guest room in our basement, however, I did finish the kitchenette! Soon we will be ready for our first house guests of the year so come see the kitchenette reveal!
To refresh your memory, here is where I started. The walls in this kitchenette, the adjoining bathroom and bedroom were painted a golden-yellow color. Plus, the cabinets, the backsplash and the granite are quite dark. All of the materials are nicely done and high-end, therefore we won’t change them. (Plus my husband loves it.)
All three of the rooms are visible from the other, so my goal is to have all of the rooms look cohesive and well coordinated. Also, I want to lighten up the wall color so it doesn’t appear so dark in these rooms. A fresh coat of paint will really freshen up these spaces. So, I patched and prepped.
I think I may need a stronger watt bulb in this area too. So dark! (Go Penn State Nittany Lions!)
Half way through the paint project:
And after the paint job was complete, I added a silver tray with a coffee maker, a silver creamer and sugar dish and our guests are all set! There is coffee, filters and coffee mugs in the overhead cabinets so our company can help themselves. (Or some decaffeinated coffee for a night cap.)
This sweet little tray was one of two, given to me by my son and daughter-in-law at Christmas. They brought them all the way from Paris! Since they stay in this guest room when they visit, I thought it would be fun for them to see the little trays they gave me and how I used them. My favorite Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day soap and surface cleaner in Lavender smells heavenly!
This little kitchenette has it all; a tiny microwave oven, a sink, mini-refrigerator and coffee maker.
I love a vintage silver tray to corral all of my coffee accouterments! Plus it gives this area a little feminine touch and a bit of sparkle.
And on the opposite side of the coffee bar is the wine bar! Wine glasses and an assortment of different wines are ready and waiting. Guests can pop a wine of their choice into the fridge and pull out an opener from the drawer. We will put a few snacks out on the countertop the next time we have company so they won’t need to tip toe up the stairs when they get hungry! We have some friends who are very early risers, so this will be perfect for them. They can make themselves a pot of coffee and relax without worrying about waking anyone up.
I’ll be so glad when my Venetian mirror and new light fixture are installed in the bathroom. I think they will look so pretty from this view point. (There is a pocket door that closes for privacy which separates the kitchenette from the bathroom, just in case you were wondering.)
I also love the new lighter color walls! Benjamin Moore Tapestry Beige is one of my favorite colors to date! It especially looks nice with the taupe trim color.
And a little before and after magic via Pic Monkey.
Well, I’m off to the store to find some fabric to upholster the padded headboard. I thought I had some white linen fabric in my stash, but it turned out to be off-white and will clash with the white bedding I am going to use in the guest room. Sigh. Keep your fingers crossed I can find the perfect fabric so I can complete this guest room. The clock is ticking for our guest’s arrival, so I need to hurry!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a lovely day! xoxo Dell
