TGIF, sweet friends! We’ve been at the lake for the past week enjoying some family time over the July 4th weekend. But, we’ve been searching for some kayaks the past few months and we finally found some! Come check out our new kayaks!
Well, I should rephrase that and say new-to-us kayaks. My husband found a pair of like-new kayaks on Facebook Marketplace the other day and we picked them up this morning! They were dirty and had lots of sand on the inside, but over all they were in great shape! And we saved nearly half on the cost of buying new ones! Here’s what they looked like on the advertisement. They are 9.5 feet kayaks and they each came with paddles.
The insides were dirty but nothing that a little elbow grease and soapy water can’t fix!
We started out by flipping them upside down and cleaning the bottoms of the kayaks. No one will really see the bottom but while we were at it might as well give them both a good thorough cleaning. We used soapy water and a bit of Mean Green Degreaser. We followed that by using a Magic Eraser on the tough stains. (I promise I helped and didn’t simply take pictures.)
The kayaks are yellow so they show dirt easily. (Left) But we scrubbed them with the Magic Erasers and degreaser and that did the trick! (Right) And they turned out great! Practically brand new! (But without the price tag.) One of the plugs was missing so we ordered a few more on the internet for a few dollars so we will have extras.
We cleaned both kayaks inside and out and they shined up like new! Don’t they look great? And I love the fact that they match. A little OCD trait?
Even the paddles were dirty and had some gluey residue from the original manufacturer sticker. So, I sprayed them with Goof-Off and let them soak for a bit. Then I scrubbed them with my magic eraser.
The sticky residue came off! There are a still a few scuffs on the paddles, but that’s ok. They will get plenty more, but it’s nice to start off with a nice, clean set of kayaks and paddles. And now they feel like ours!
Time to take them for a spin! Wanna come? What’s your favorite FB Marketplace find? I can’t even count mine at this point, but isn’t it fun to get something you really want for a fraction of the cost? You just have to be patient and wait for the right thing to come along. Well, thanks for coming along with me! It means so much! I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Let’s chat again soon! xoxo Dell
