Happy June, my friends! I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! We certainly did and we managed to do lots of cooking and even made some homemade vanilla ice cream. Come check out the recipe!
Over the extended holiday weekend our older son, his wife and baby came to stay for a few days with us at the lake house. So, since our grandson LOVES ice cream, we decided to make him some! I googled a few recipes since I didn’t have my cook books at the lake. We ended up combining 3 different recipes and changed the ingredients, but I think we found a winner! And it’s SO easy!
HOMEMADE VANILLA ICE CREAM RECIPE
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 cups whipping cream
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring
Beat all ingredients together. Cover tightly and store in the refrigerator until you are ready to make the ice cream. The longer and colder the ingredients, the better! Then, simply follow the manufacturer’s instructions with your ice cream maker. Our machine is pretty old but it still came out great! Next time I think we will double the recipe because we ate nearly all of it the first time! All hands on deck to put the ice and rock salt into the ice cream machine. Isn’t our tiny helper the cutest?
About an hour later, it’s time for ice cream!
We added blueberries from our bumper crop last year. Wisely we froze several bags so we could enjoy them year round.
Now that we know how simple and delicious this recipe is, we will be sure and use it several more times this summer! We like to make vanilla ice cream because, one, our grandson can eat it, and two you can add all sorts of yummy toppings! What’s your favorite flavor?
Well, have a great day, and I hope to share more recipes and home decor ideas your way soon! xoxo Dell
