Good morning! Today I want to publicly confess my love of chairs. (Obsession, perhaps?) I love chairs of all shapes and sizes and the more unique the better! I recently inherited some his and her antique chairs and they are beauties!
My sweet Mother-in-Law recently gave us these beautiful antique chairs. Her Mother had given them to her years and years ago and she knew how much I admired them. So when they moved a few months ago, she generously gave them to us! I love these his and her antique chairs so much and we will treasure them always!
My Mother-in-law always called these “Mr. & Mrs.” chairs. Out of curiosity I googled that wording and came up empty. I think they are more commonly referred to as “his & her” chairs. I suppose they are called this because of the difference of the size of the chairs and the shape of the arms. But since she always referred to them this way, I will too. Pictured below is the Mr. chair.
The Mr. chair has larger and upholstered arms. (I love the curves on these chairs. )
The Mrs. chair is slightly more delicate and has the smaller curved arms. (and no upholstery on the arms.)
Both chairs have a tufted back and beautiful floral carvings at the top.
What’s not to love, right? The chairs are in mint condition and the upholstery is neutral enough so I think I will leave them just as they are. What a wonderful gift from my wonderful Mother-in-Law! She knows how much we love chairs and I’m so thankful she entrusted them to us. Honestly if I had a choice, I would have ALL antique chairs and no sofas. That might make “watching golf” aka napping difficult, but it would be pretty!
What is your favorite antique? I can’t say I have one favorite but these Mr. & Mrs. chairs are my newest favorite. I hope you have a lovely day! Thank you for stopping by. Talk to you soon, okay? xoxo Dell
