Happy Wednesday! Boy, Christmas came and went quickly, didn’t it? Luckily I got most everything done on my to-do list except sending Christmas cards. So, sorry folks. It’s on my New Year Resolution list for 2018. Next year for sure!! But, the headboard makeover is complete!
Last week I decided to makeover the headboard in the guest room just days before Christmas. I really wanted to give the guest room a pick me up before my in-laws came. So, this is how the headboard looked when I purchased it for $30 through an online garage sale.
The shape reminds me a tiny bit of the headboard from Ballard Designs. Think I should put a bird on the ledge of mine? (oh, and it’s 20% off but probably still more than $30)
Long story short, it took several coats of white chalk paint to cover the dark wood. It really could have used one more coat but I ran out of time and patience. This is after one coat…
Then after two coats of paint…
It looked better and better after each coat of paint.
And here is the newly painted headboard in place and ready for guests with hours to spare! I kept the same bedding since it is fairly new. I brought up the two antique tables from the basement and borrowed a few matching lamps from my bedroom to flank each side of the bed. Don’t you love playing musical furniture and accessories?
So, I snapped a quick picture of the finished room and then ran to Hoboken to pick up my son, daughter-in-law and grand puppy for Christmas! I’ll probably change a few more things around after the holidays, but it was fresh and new for my in laws for Christmas! We had such a lovely time. I’ll share more pictures later, but here’s a picture of the happy new family! Brie, Chase and Baby Belle!
Well, I’m signing off for 2017 so I can catch a bit of rest and relaxation and spend some time with my husband, Lacey and family. Thank you so much for you support and kindness this year. It means the world to me. God bless each and every one and I’ll see you next year! We have some big changes coming so I”ll keep you posted. xoxo Dell
